Dr. Raouf Sa'd Abujaber Chairman
The man who started dealing with beer in 1946 and founded the Jordan Brewery in
1955, is still chairman of the General Investment Co. Ltd.
Abu-Ziad, as he known here ( Abu is father in Arabic and Ziad is the name of his first son) was born in Salt in 1925 and was awarded his first university degree, a B.B.A. from the American University Of Beirut in 1946. After working for 38 years, he joined the Jordan University in Amman and in 1984 was awarded an MA in History. Giving himself, immediately after that, a Sabbatical leave for three years, he joined Oxford University where he was awarded, a D.Phil.-Modern History,in July 1987. He has published two books, "Pioneers over Jordan" in English 1989 and "History of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem" in Arabic 1992.
Happily married since 1962 to Mireille Seikaly of Haifa they have one daughter and two sons. Bassma married with a daughter and son, Ziad,
president of Jordan Projects for Tourism Development Co. "Tala Bay" married with
two sons and a daughter. And Marwan, married with a daughter and son, and starting a family tradition, is now a brewery-man occupying the post of General Manager.
Raouf had and continues to have a busy life. He founded few Companies and occupied few posts and is now a Chairman and Member of six Banks and Company Boards and nearly fifteen societies. He does not believe in retirement and says that a human should give to the last minute.
